A Voice From The Heart
By Manee Valentine

Valentine’s standard of excellence was set from the beginning. Listening to such masters as Johnny Mathis, James Darren, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and of course the chairman of the board Mr.Frank Sinatra.Valentine was enthralled with the world of music and started singing and writing at a very early age. The range in his musical background spans from all the popular genres of traditional music in America, to the styles that became the backbone of what is now known as world adult contemporary, like Jazz, Big Band, Lounge, Retro Fusion and even Pop Music with a Latin touch. Manee Valentine’s upcoming CD is a unique production that brings together some of the most important original and often unappreciated values of historic and cultural ties between Latinos and other races not only in America but around the World”. With selective songs representative of the golden era ofclassic standards, as well as with his own new contemporary originals, Valentine solidifies his place in the music industry telling us the story of Latinos around the world loving Jazz and Big Band.

Click on Podcast to Listen to Kennis Jones, Kennis Jones, writes for Smokey Robinson was a blessing and was a wonderful experience. It was like going to Harvard. I learned to critique my writing and to enhance my ideas. Smokey taught me for example how to take the title of a song and write about it three to four different ways. Most importantly I learned about the music business. God bless you Smokey.

Check out Kennis on Reverbation-Publishing and production company called Soft Soul Music. Jones has over 400 songs now and continuing to write more. Kennis's goal is to compose and create the most beautiful music the world has ever heard. He wants his music to heal, soothe, educate, and to help people to see God’s love. Marvin Gaye said it best “We have to save the babies, save all God’s children."

I hope you can really hear the heartfulness of my songs on my latest CD. It is titled “Softness of The Soul”. “Cookie Sweet “which is a little R&B jazzy and cute because life can be cookie sweet and “The Tin Man” which I wrote for my brother Vic. He asked me to write him a song after he had a heart attack and made it through it.

“Tears of Joy” and “What About Love” are my songs to the world. “What About Love” is about what I believe in. At the end of the day through all your ups and downs, God is asking us what about love, it was made in heaven. It’s the one thing that we will always have because it will be with us forever.

Larry Ellis Jr., "Believe when you see music, feel the music, hear the music. Larry Ellis Jr., captures his music by it's smiplicity. He believe music is a spiritual gift, we are created to" enjoy it" play it” ‘write and compose it”. His grandfather and all his brothers are all musicians. Ellis, began music theory and chords/charts and from there in his Soul came Jazz.

Coupled with powerful lyrics and soulful grooves, his silky smooth delivery is a gift that has already touched many around the world. His sound fuses elements of funk, jazz, and R&B to create a unique brand of soul music.

"Necessary" quickly became a favorite and has been in rotation on Internet, satellite and mainstream radio stations around the world. In 2009, "Talk To Me" made its debut on the nationally syndicated Michael Baisden Show and "Necessary" was nominated for Best R&B Song in the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards.

Jon and Lynn first met in the 90's.A reunion on Facebook led to the beginning of their new creative partnership in June of 2009. Jon (jonburr.com) had been active as a bassist, bandleader, composer and producer, and Lynn (lynnstein.com) had established a career as an artist/painter/curator in the years since their last meeting. Jon played in groups such as the Stephane Grappelli trio, The Houston Person Quartet, and the Hot Swing Trio, and Lynn became artistic director for the Rockland Center for the Arts.

At a small dinner party Jon and Lynn attended one evening in June, a jam session broke out around the kitchen table (Jon keeps a bass in the kitchen), and that session led to the formation of the duo of Jon and Lynn. They've been rehearsing, recording, and playing places in the New York/New Jersey area since then. Their work draws from their collective experiences, touching on melodic pop, jazz, and the Great American Songbook of standards.

Love That Jazz!

Saxophonist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sundar Viswanathan is one of Canada's most diversely talented artists, and a highly respected international musical ambassador and educator. One might expect a natural inclination towards diversity in creative and holistic endeavour from a man with both South Indian family roots and a northern Canadian living experience. To Sundar, music is a passport to creative collaboration and enlightenment on a global scale, both as a performer and scholar.

A testament to this is "Sundar's Induswest Project", one of the most groundbreaking Canadian jazz recordings in recent years on which he leads an A-list of this country's jazz heavyweights in fusing Indian melodic aesthetic with jazz rhythms and improvisations. Alternately, his stunning new CD, "What A Dream I Had", features Sundar on sax and vocals showcasing an all-star rhythm section and a fresh interpretation of the standard and popular song.

From Italy, "Renato Falaschi" was inspired by music he was exposed to as a child, and began playing the piano “by ear “at a very early age. He began formal piano studies at the age of eight at Bari’s Niccolo Piccinni Conservatory of music and this he continued off and on into his teens, shifting to a focus on organ, guitar and arrangement for big band and composition of which he obtained his masters at the Jazz University in Terni. In 1990 he obtained a degree in classical piano at Enrico Duni’s conservatory of music in Matera (Ba).

Renato worked for RAI 1 Italy's no one television network in 1985 where he remained for 5 years. Currently he lives in France where he has recorded many albums with different singers as a pianist and arranger and now the time has come for him to do this own thing! Renato has released his first mini CD entitled “Summer Rain”.

Try Something Neu" with Andrew Neu has just been released on Nu

Loeb and Gerald Veasley, it features original compositions as well as tunes written by Bobby Caldwell, Brian Bromberg, and Dave Kochanski. "Try Something Neu" also features guest performances by Brian Bromberg, Chuck Loeb, and a great vocal performance by Bobby Caldwell.

From his spirit as a reflection of “True Realty” with Dee Brown, continued his success by collaborating with saxophonist Gentry Shelby. The two formed Shelby Brown, and released the TEG Records album written and produced by Brown, Come Into My Heart which rose to the top of the of the DMX Smooth Jazz music charts. The solo No Time to Waste was released on Nu Groove/ Sony / BMG / Records in October of 2007. Brown’s skills as a guitarist, composer, producer and arranger were revealed for the first time. Monika Herzig
completed her Doctorate in Music Education and Jazz Studies at Indiana University, where she is now a faculty member. As a touring jazz artist, she has performed at many prestigious jazz clubs and festivals, such as the Indy Jazz Fest, Cleveland’s Nighttown, Louisville’s Jazz Factory, the W.C.Handy Festival, Jazz in July in Bloomington and Cincinnati, Columbus’ Jazz & Rib Fest, to name just a few.

Lynn Riley
Superwoman" of the sax. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised outside of Philadelphia, Pa., she received a B. A. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Hawaii. Her time spent in Hawaii was influential in developing her sensibility to, and awareness of, different musical cultures.

Since returning to Philadelphia, Lynn has played with many great artists, including Grover Washington Jr., Philly Joe Jones, Charles Earland, David Murray, and Johnny Pacheco, as well as leading her own groups. She was chosen to perform at the Painted Bride Arts Center for their series Women Leaders in Jazz in 2000. She has opened for artists such as Najee, Spyro Gyra, Nelson Rangell, Nester Torres, and Compai Segundo of the Buena Vista Club.

Arlyn Valencia, vocalist, guitar player, believes that musicians are privileged. "We are given the talent and the vehicle to express sentiments and move the audience to a particular direction. Her desire towards the technical perfection of singing should never overshadow the main purpose of singing which is to bring the audience to a particular place, to a particular emotion."

Arlyn was a jazz vocalist, mainly for "The Rebirth Band" which performed nightly at The Silahis International Hotel in Manila, Philippines in the late 1980's. Although very comfortable in the Broadway arena, she concentrated in Folk and Jazz Music. Her plan to release her CD release is currently delayed as she concentrates in her medical profession. Collaborating with Jazz Notable Artist and legends.

Barbrah Kelley, as a Worship leader Barbrah found that her passion for music was much more than just singing words to a song; her desire is to see that people are healed, delivered and set free. Therefore we must be creative in reaching those who are lost; "Smooth Worship" is a tool used to encourage and inspire.

Barbrah co-wrote a single for "The Gap Band' entitled "I'm Dreaming" and "We Bow Down" for "Perry Jenkins and The Lord's Mercenaries'. Her voice can be heard on the movie soundtrack "The Cage'- singing "You Do Nothing For Me" which she also co-wrote with her husband Brian J Kelley.

"Smooth Worship" is more than the title of her CD, it is a portion of a journey that she experienced and a place of personal worship.

Bertha Payne is inspired by KoKo Taylor other idols are Etta James, Tina Turner and Betty Wright. Retired from her job she went into the studios in 2005. “BEDROOM OFFER”, and the CD followed by her cd in 2006. Bertha is the Executive Producer of her new CD released with her own record label, Bertland Records.

So in 2009 she is back now, let's all sit back and enjoy her latest CD "Let The Party Get Started".
